Gator Gaming to hold videogame tournament on Nov. 19

Dust off your keyboards, brush up on your hotkeys and grab your game pads — it’s time for another round of videogame tournaments at the University of Florida. Gator Gaming, UF’s largest gaming club, is holding their next tournament, GatorLAN Winter, on Nov. 19 in the Reitz Union Grand Ballroom from 4 p.m. to midnight, and it’s free to enter.

Kyle Kirwan, president of Gator Gaming, said he’s hoping for a similar turnout to the last event, which attracted about 450 people.

“That would be a really good indicator that everyone had a great time last time,” Kirwan said. “We’re really looking forward to see whether or not people have fun at our events and would want to come to more of them.”

Attendees can expect to see competition in about eight different tournaments that night including “Halo 3,” “StarCraft II” and Super “Street Fighter IV.” Kirwan said winners of these tournaments will be receiving prizes from sponsors including special glass plaques with game logos printed on them, which are being supplied by UF alumni-started printing company Fracture.

Sponsors, like Electronic Arts and Ubisoft, will also have tables set up for giveaways and smaller side tournaments like “Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood.”

There are other prizes and tournaments that have not yet been announced, but you can subscribe to Gator Gaming’s e-mail list in order to receive additional updates and to be notified when registration opens for the various tournaments. Gator Gaming will also be tabling outside of the Reitz Union during the weeks leading up to Nov. 19 so people can speak with club members directly and even get an early look at the glass plaques.

Hey! This is kind of off topic but I need some advice from an established blog.

Is it very difficult to set up your own blog? I’m not very techincal but I can figure things out pretty quick. I’m
thinking about making my own but I’m not sure where to begin. Do you have any points or suggestions? Thank you
