Mass Effect 3 officially announced at the VGAs, will launch on all platforms simultaneously

“Mass Effect 3” has been making the rounds in the rumor mill as of lately, but it has finally been officially announced with a launch date of “Holiday 2011.”

The game’s newly released trailer includes a shot of the earth being attacked by the series’ evil alien overlords known as reapers. One might guess that this means Earth will now play a big role in the upcoming game, and be a playable locale for the first time in the series.

This morning, Electronic Arts, the game’s publisher, announced via press release that the game is set to release on Xbox 360, PC and PlayStation 3 simultaneously, another first for this sci-fi epic.
