Downpour to be the name of the next Silent Hill title

A veritable deluge of information has surfaced about the eighth entry in the “Silent Hill” series. Game Informer Magazine reports that “Silent Hill: Downpour” will feature — no surprise here — water as the factor that transforms Silent Hill into its Otherworld counterpart.

Returning in this iteration is the psychological profiling system of “Silent Hill: Shattered Memories,” a gameplay mechanic in which outcomes and story events are affected by your choices.  Skewed and often changing camera angles also make a return.

The most substantial change in “Downpour” is the size of the playable world.  Game developer Vatra suggests that, while there are many old and new places to explore, the world will be large enough to traverse via subway tunnel.

Judging from what’s been reported so far, “Downpour” is a brand-new direction for the “Silent Hill” franchise. You can read all about it in the February edition of Game Informer Magazine.
