FortressCraft coming to Xbox Live Indie Games, looks eerily similar to Minecraft

PlayStation Phone is Xperia Play, requires repurchasing PSN content

This week, Sony finally unveiled its PlayStation phone, called Xperia Play.  According to a Sony Ericsson press release, “XperiaTM PLAY combines a PlayStation-quality gaming experience with the very latest Android smartphone technology.”  While the list of features is extensive, Xperia Play does have one disappointing feature.

Cave Story is being remade for the 3DS

No, the headline is not a typo. According to creator Daiskue “Pixel” Amaya, “Cave Story,” a 10-year-old game that has aged as gracefully as a fine wine, is currently being remade for the 3DS.

This certainly isn’t the first remake “Cave Story” has seen; its WiiWare release in 2010 featured improved graphics and character designs.

Activision pulls the plug on the Guitar Hero franchise

Dungeon Defenders console release delayed, NGP development planned

Destructoid is reporting that the PC, Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network versions of “Dungeon Defenders,” a title receiving accolades for its Android and iPhone iterations, has been delayed according to a recent tweet from Gainesville-based developer Trendy Entertainment.

Pokemon Typing DS is the most peculiar Pokemon game ever created

Ocarina of Time and other major titles to miss 3DS launch window

Reggie Fils-Aime, President of Nintendo of America, broke the sad news to MTV yesterday that some major titles will not be released for the 3DS during the launch window announced at last week’s 3DS press conference.

“Mario, Zelda, all of those titles are coming,” said Fils-Aime. “From our perspective, we like to launch titles when they’re ready. And so they’ll be ready, they’ll be ready soon. Just not in that initial time period of late March to early June.”

PSP2 reveal on Thursday, may have 3G support

psp2 - playwisegaming.comJapanese newspaper Nikkei is reporting, according to Andriasang, that the next generation PlayStation Portable is slated to be revealed at a Sony press conference this Thursday, January 27.

The console, currently dubbed the PSP2, reportedly features 3G support, enabling players to download games and movies as well as software while players aren’t around wi-fi.  It will also have a larger OLED touch screen and a new processor to handle updated and high-resolution graphics.

Peter Molyneux to receive Game Developer’s Choice Lifetime Achievement Award, Tim Schafer to host ceremony

The Game Developer’s Choice Awards advisory committee announced this week that its Lifetime Achievement Award for 2011 will be given to Peter Molyneux, founder of Lionhead Studios, for his “contributions to the art and science of games.”

Portal 2 for PS3 will include cross-platform play
