PAX log — Friday part two

PAX aerial - playwisegaming.comLines, 3DS, Joystiq Podcast, SOCOM 4, Firefall and more

If I learned anything from my first day at PAX, it’s that people like to line up for the panels early…very, very early. Unfortunately, I missed four seperate talks that I was planning on attending because I didn’t get to the line early enough.

The cosplayers of PAX

PAX cosplayers - playwisegaming.com

Straight from PAX east, here are a few cosplaying images for your viewing pleasure. Check out the gallery for some well-known and some not-so-well-known — but coincidentally no Unown — real life replicas of gaming and anime characters.

PAX log — Friday

PAX East 2011 - playwisegaming.comToday is the first official day of PAX! I awoke from a “refreshing” four hour nap at 7 a.m. I wouldn’t exactly call it sleeping, but it was better than nothing.

There are a reported 70,000 people attending PAX this weekend, and the lines are proof of those numbers — I waited in line for about an hour to get into the opening keynote, which was given by¬†Jane McGonigal.

playCAST PAX special — Episode one: cold, Boston, buildings and anticipation

Ben Wade, PAX East correspondent here. I’m attempting to create an episode of playCAST for each day I attend PAX East. Episode one is above for your listening pleasure.

While no one else from playWISE was able to join me for PAX, I am briefly joined by UF’s Ubisoft campus representative for this episode, and there is a likelihood he may join me for further episodes. I’ll admit it; the podcast is a little unconventional, given it’s recorded in pieces and not quite as professional sounding as our regular episodes due to time constraints, but we hope you guys enjoy it nonetheless.

Click through for a few accompanying pictures, including a weird leaning trash building — how can you resist that?

PAX Log — Thursday

Terminal outside - playwisegaming.comI’ve arrived at the Jacksonville Airport with my travelling companion, UF Ubisoft rep Jay Jordan Uy, and we’re patiently¬†awaiting our plane’s arrival. There probably won’t be much to report from PAX today, since it doesn’t officially start until Friday.

I’m pretty excited about getting to PAX and checking everything out though, mostly because I have no clue what to expect having never been to any gaming conventions before.

Anyway, while you wait for more eventful posts, enjoy these exclusive and enthralling behind the scenes shots of our airport trip. By the way, we only got slightly raped by the TSA.
